Weather Warning

Rains of variable intensity this morning for coastal areas of the Pacific slope

September 29, 2020
05:00 am

Diagnosis: The proximity of low pressure areas typical of the Intertropical Convergence Zone in both maritime regions bordering Costa Rica, are increasing atmospheric instability, causing rains of variable intensity in coastal areas of the Pacific slope. Specifically in the Nicoya Peninsula, Parrita, Quepos and the Osa Peninsula.

Forecast: During the rest of the morning and the first two hours of the day, the rains of variable intensity with an isolated electrical storm will continue on the coasts of the South Pacific, Central Pacific and the Nicoya Peninsula with amounts of 10 - 20 mm. On the Caribbean slope, there is an average probability of weak to moderate rains for said period. Amounts less than 15 mm.

Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
• Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewerage saturation.
• Take shelter in a safe place in the event of an electrical storm.
• Stay informed through social networks, Twitter: @IMNCR, Facebook: Instituto Meteorológico Nacional CR and the WEB Page: www.imn.ac.cr
