Weather Warning
Isolated and strong downpours in the country
Oct 29, 2020
9.50 am
Diagnosis: Local conditions coupled with the passage of tropical wave # 49 keep the potential for isolated but strong showers high in the country this Thursday. This morning there were downpours in the south of the country, in sectors of the Osa peninsula and surrounding areas.
Forecast: Tropical wave # 49 will be crossing the country this afternoon, which could reinforce the rainy activity of the present day. For this afternoon, isolated showers accompanied by a thunderstorm are expected in the Pacific and North Zone, as well as in the Central Valley, the accumulated amounts are estimated between 30-60 mm, with higher values ??locally. For the high areas of the Caribbean they are projected with scattered rains with a very localized electrical storm. Estimated amounts between 5-20 mm. The Caribbean coast and surrounding plains are expected with slightly to partially cloudy skies without precipitation.
Warning: Be very cautious around the Guanacaste mountain range, North Zone and South Pacific, since these are the regions with high soil saturation.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
• Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewerage saturation.
• Take shelter in a safe place in case you hear an electrical storm or perceive strong gusts of wind near the storm clouds, as well as caution against possible falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
