7:00 am
Diagnosis: Unstable atmospheric conditions have remained over the region after the passing of tropical wave # 19 this weekend. Due to this strong convection developed this morning off the Caribbean coast of the country causing rains and downpours on the Caribbean side, mountainous areas of the country and the eastern and central zone of the Central Valley. The maximum accumulated in the last 6 hours are between 20-45 mm in the Caribbean and the Northern Zone, with a localized maximum of 86 mm in the Pococí zone. In the rest of the country amounts between 1-10 mm are registered in the same period.
Forecast: During this morning the rainy conditions on the Caribbean side will continue with rains of variable intensity, the strongest towards the North Caribbean and the mountainous zone of the North Zone, the accumulated ones are estimated between 10-40 mm. In addition, intermittent rains are expected throughout the morning in the Central Valley and in the mountainous parts of the country, the amounts are estimated between 1-20 mm.
For the afternoon, rainfall is expected to be concentrated mainly on the Pacific side with isolated rains and showers. Warning: Special attention in the North Zone and the North Caribbean, because in these regions the greatest damage occurred this morning.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
- • Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to increased flow in rivers and streams.
- • Take refuge in a safe place in case of hearing an electrical storm or perceiving strong gusts of wind near storm clouds, as well as precaution for possible falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
