The tropical depression Eta maintains indirect influence over the country.

November 5, 2020
04:00 a.m.

Diagnosis: The tropical depression Eta maintains indirect influence on Costa
Rica, it is located 145 km south of La Ceiba, Honduras, with sustained winds
of 45 km / h, moving with a west-northwest direction at a speed of 13 km / h.
In the last 3 hours it has generated rainy conditions in the mountainous
regions of the Caribbean, Pacific, Central Valley and North Zone. the highest
amounts are recorded in the central Pacific. Floods are reported in the South
Pacific, the Térraba river overflowing, as well as most of the flooding rivers.

Forecast: Tropical depression Eta is estimated to head toward the Gulf of
Honduras by Thursday.

During the remainder of the morning, the rains and downpours of variable
intensity will continue, being more intense in regions of the Central,
North and South Pacific, amounts between 10-40 mm are estimated during the
entire early morning period. In the Central Valley and the North Zone, the
rains will continue intermittently with accumulated between 15-20 mm.
Isolated showers and showers are possible in the Caribbean mountains,
amounts less than 10 mm. Banks of fog and reduced visibility in the greater
metropolitan area and mountains of the Caribbean.

Warning: Although a decrease in the amount and intensity of rainfall is
expected, pay special attention to the saturation of the soils and possible
floods in the regions of the Pacific slope, in the cantons of Nandayure,
Nicoya, Liberia, Carrillo and Hojancha in the North Pacific, in the South
Pacific to Buenos Aires, Coto Brus and Osa and in the Central Pacific, Parrita
and Aguirre. Also pay special attention to the Los Santos area due to the risk
of landslides.

Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
• Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewerage saturation and
increased flow in rivers and streams.
• Take shelter in a safe place in case you hear an electrical storm or perceive
strong gusts of wind near the storm clouds, as well as caution against possible
falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
