Informe Meteorológico N°1

Depresión tropical 31 se intensifica y se convierte en tormenta tropical Iota

Diagnosis: Tropical depression # 31 has strengthened in the last hours becoming tropical storm Iota, moving at 17 km / h towards Honduras, as shown in the map of the Miami Hurricane Center, on the other hand, there is no impact on Costa Rica of this tropical cyclone.

Forecast: During the night of Friday the system will continue to move westward, without affecting Costa Rica.

For Saturday morning it is expected that there will be no influence of the tropical cyclone throughout the national territory. Morning rains are not expected in most of the country.

During the afternoon and night of Saturday, the system will continue its movement towards Central America slowly, strengthening, beginning to have an indirect influence in the country, reinforcing the rainy activity in the Central and South Pacific, where there will be amounts between 30-75 mm throughout the period. . In the Central Valley and North Pacific there will be rains with amounts between 5-30 mm, as well as in the mountainous sectors of the Caribbean and the North Zone.

With the current analyzes it is expected that, in the late hours of Saturday night and Sunday morning, there will be no rainfall throughout the national territory.

Warning: Special attention in regions of the South Pacific.

Due to the above, the IMN recommends:

Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewerage saturation and increased flow in rivers and streams.
Take shelter in a safe place in case of hearing an electrical storm or perceive strong gusts of wind near the storm clouds, as well as caution against possible falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
