Weather Report N°16

Julia is downgraded to a tropical depression and no longer exerts influence in the country

October 10, 2022
1200 m.

Diagnosis: Julia to the north of Central America degrading to a tropical depression, with a speed of 24 km/h and maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h. There are no rainy conditions associated with Julia.

Forecast: While Julia moves away from the country at 24 km/h, it is expected that the Intertropical Convergence Zone will remain in the north of Nicaragua, so the rainy conditions will be isolated during the afternoon and night of this Monday.

The afternoon and evening period will have rains and isolated downpours with storms in the Pacific, Central Valley and mountains in the north of the country, the expected amounts are 10-30 mm in the Central Valley and North Zone; amounts between 5-30 mm in the North Pacific and between 10-50 mm in the Central and South Pacific.

Warning: Caution in the North and South Pacific regions, as a result of soil saturation there is the possibility of flooding and landslides, because these regions have high levels of soil saturation.

Due to the above, the IMN recommends: Caution due to sewage saturation and possible sudden floods, as well as the main routes of the country in case of heavy rain events.

Prevention before an electrical storm and seek shelter in a safe place in case of strong gusts of wind appearing or being perceived near storm clouds, due to the possible fall of tree branches, power lines, among others.
