Diagnosis: The atmospheric instability caused after the passage of the tropical wave # 31 yesterday Wednesday, has caused rains to be generated near the coast of Limón this morning and that rainfall is extended to the rest of the country throughout the day.
Forecast: During the rest of the morning, there will be isolated showers with thunderstorms in the plains of the Caribbean and North Zone. Amounts between 10-20 mm and maximums of 30 mm are estimated in a timely manner.
In the afternoon, downpours with thunderstorms will be distributed along the Pacific coast, with amounts between 20-40 mm during the afternoon with maximum amounts of up to 70mm in the South Pacific in this period. In the Central Valley, the rains will be dispersed but intense, with precipitation in the west of the region, with amounts between 10-20 mm and a thunderstorm; part of these rains will reach the mountains of the North Zone.
During the night, the rains will be scattered and limited to the coast of the Central Pacific and the South Pacific, with amounts between 10-20 mm in a timely manner in this period.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
• Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewer saturation, increased flow in rivers and streams, and sectors with high propensity for landslides. Caution on the main routes of the Pacific and Central Valley.
• Shelter in a safe place in case of hearing thunderstorms or perceiving strong gusts of wind near storm clouds, as well as precaution for possible fall of tree branches, power lines or hail events, among others.
