Weather Warning -Update-

Aguaceros y tormenta eléctrica esta tarde -Actualización-

16 de marzo de 2023.
05:40 p.m.

Diagnóstico: The entry of sea breezes from the Pacific Ocean in conjunction with the warm morning temperatures has generated isolated downpours and electrical storms in the afternoon. The accumulated amounts for all regions are between 30 – 50 mm.

Forecast: Toward the first three hours of the night, isolated downpours will continue, accompanied by electrical storms, specifically in the western sectors of the North Pacific and on the Nicoya Peninsula, such as in the towns of Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, Hojancha, the surroundings of Orotina, Caldera, Puntarenas and Barranca, as well as San Vito, Ciudad Nelly and Golfito. The estimated amounts and in a localized way, will be between 25 – 45 mm in the next 3 hours.

Warning: Special attention in the South Pacific, Central Pacific and western sector of the Central Valley, since they present considerable soil saturation due to the rains of the last days.

Due to the above, the IMN recommends:

• Caution for sewer saturation and possible flash floods.

• Prevention before electrical storm and seek refuge in a safe place in case of appearing or perceiving strong gusts of wind near the storm clouds, due to the possible fall of tree branches, power lines, among others.
